Sodexo is also quite innovative on the succession planning front, under the leadership of Sandy Shaw, VP of Talent Development.

The company has nearly a decade of experience in succession planning best practices and process improvement. Starting with an inconsistent, paper-based process in 2000, Sodexo has effectively leveraged a process-oriented framework with supporting technology provided by Softscape to transform succession planning within the company. Through an iterative process, Sodexo has extended succession planning from the top 300 managers in the year 2000 to more than 7,500 in the year 2007, achieving a 97%+ completion rate for talent reviews in FY07. Sodexo continues to innovate its succession planning strategy, having recently added new competency assessment capabilities, risk assessment, and development planning enhancements.

Finding jobs through social platforms I think is only the beginning. We will see this process change and tweak as time moves forward.

I know several people who worked for Sodexo. Although they are supposedly very progressive and innovative, they treat their employees badly and have unrealistic goals and expectations. There is also a well established hierarchy in the company and the rules for senior management are quite different than they are for staff. They also had quite a high turnover until the recession hit.

Rather than buying into their spin, perhaps the Human Capitialist should have dug a little deeper to see how the company is run and who is really benefiting from all these "progressive changes.

Hi Anne- Thanks for your comments. My post was solely focused on the innovative things Sodexo is doing in recruiting and wasn't intended to digging into the culture or broader talent management practices.

Thanks Techsphinx...I was thinking more the "Social Capitalist"...

Thank you, Jason, for sharing this info on Sodexo. I recruit for DAXKO, an innovative SaaS product company, and we're embracing social media to build our brand and recruit.

Check out www.daxko.com/job-openings --- we recently added links to FB, youtube, twitter, & flickr! We haven't thought about a career blog, so it's great to see how it works for Sodexo.
