The Real HRO Awards

Hro_world With this year’s HRO World Conference wrapped up, I thought I would reflect somewhat and hand out my version of the HRO Awards…

Top Theme of the Year: Service provider profitability is becoming a big concern in HRO market

Second Top Theme of the Year: Healthy demand seems to be prevalent in the market. Pricing has definitely stabilized and providers are leveraging the sourcing advisors more effectively to better qualify the prospective companies interested in HRO

Provider Everyone Seems to Discount: Convergys

Provider Giving the Industry a Health Sense of Fear: ADP

Question I’d Wish They’d Stop Asking: Is Fidelity moving away from HR Access as their technology platform?

Question Everyone Asks But Already Knows the Answer: Where are all the buyers?

Best Cocktail Party of the Year: Convergys

Provider with Momentum (Last Year): Convergys

Provider with Momentum (This Year): Accenture

Company Getting the Most Mileage out of HRO: SAP

Most Impressive New Executive in HRO: Michelle Adelman (Accenture)

HRO Buyers That "Get It": Sharon Taylor (Prudential), Ernest Lareau (DuPont), Mark Azzarello (International Paper)

Thanks to Harry and Jay for another great event.

ADP should be giving everyone else a healthy dose of fear. They are the only ones who have figured out the mid-market, and that might be where all the money is. While they would love to play in the large market space, it’s just not their sweet spot.

I agree on SAP getting the most mileage – except for Hewitt (what the heck are they doing sticking to Cyborg???), most of the major vendors are switching over to SAP.

And lastly – all that really matters in the end was the cocktail party!!!

    Great new look!

I fear for this show next year, once it goes under new management. This show has built itself up on HR Outsourcing, not HR content. The minute it moves down the track of having HRO as a subset of a greater HR conference, it will die. Jay and Harry have done a fantastic job creating this concept and making a market – the new management need to build on the work they did and increase the outsourcing focus – not the HR.

There were so many “new” people jumping on the HRO bandwagon this year – I hope this market hasn’t already peaked now the laggards are showing up picking up the scraps……

Your insights are remarkable. Keep the rumor mill churning. It makes life interesting, like a nice dessert after a dry meal.
