What Is This Thing Called “Enterprise 2.0″?

Before I bore you with lots of technology mumbo-jumbo, I thought I would point to a great article posted today in SandHill.com titled, "The Birth of Enterprise 2.0" by M.R. Rangaswami.  M.R. is one of the brightest, most respected (and well-connected) leaders in Silicon Valley, especially in the enterprise software world.

The topic of "Enterprise 2.0" has been much debated among the Irregulars (the Irregulars is a group of bloggers, of which I am a card-carrying member, that includes software executives, current and former analysts, venture capitalists, and industry thought leaders…I have added the Irregular blogroll list in the right sidebar).  My take is that "Enterprise 2.0", among many things, finally brings the focus back on the user—something that has been absent in most enterprise applications today!

I am becoming a little jaded over the whole 2.0 thing! It is so last year…

We are in a phase with several technical features and where control is starting to move back to the user.

2.0 is only a label. Like dot com, it will pass but the ideas it encapsulates will live on.
